Problem Statement

Karen Boyle, a newly trained physiotherapist based in Squamish, BC, Canada, was in need of a brand identity that represents her values and personality to establish herself as a healthcare practitioner in a competitive market. As her marketing and design contractor, my task was to create a brand from scratch, provide marketing support, and offer business coaching. The challenge was to create a unique identity for her new venture in a new location while keeping up with established competitors in the industry such as kitsilanophysio.com, kelvinphysio.ca, and seatoskyphysio.com. The goal was to refine the brand’s image and develop a strapline that resonates with her target audience of body/health-concerned individuals of all ages seeking physical therapy or physiotherapy services. The project duration was two months.

Research

Competition: kitsilanophysio.com / kelvinphysio.ca/ seatoskyphysio.com

Creating a business starts with research:

  • Competitor Research (Local – Vancouver/Squamish)
  • Industry Research (Global -What / Who / WHy / How)
  • Self Discovery Research (Other Industries & Interests)

Through this journey, I was able to identify the gaps within the market and help create a brand.

The main focus point for Karen was injecting personality into the brand and my goal was to educate her on the H2H business mindset.

Summary

As a Graphic Designer, Marketer, and Business Coach, I had the opportunity to work with Karen Boyle, a new entrepreneur who wanted to start her own Physiotherapy business in Squamish, BC, Canada. I helped Karen to create her brand identity, acquire a URL, and establish her social media channels. In addition, I provided website support, including platform selection (WIX) and SEO implementation, as well as design support for her marketing efforts.

Together, we developed a brand that truly represented Karen’s values and personality, including a brand name, logo design, colour scheme, and tone of voice. We also crafted a strapline, USP, and ESP to communicate Karen’s unique approach to physical therapy. Through our social media build-out and post examples, we were able to attract Karen’s target audience of body/health-concerned individuals, resulting in a full roster within just four months of her business launch.

My experience working with Karen and FreeForm Physio highlights my ability to guide entrepreneurs through the journey of starting a new business, from brand creation to website support to marketing and design assistance.
